A story of a motherless child
looking for love and finds it in strange wondrous places.
After having difficulty getting into The Secret Lives of Bees
-- so disheartening and negative in the beginning -- I really
enjoyed this book. It was fun reading about Lily's development
under the care of her new band of "aunts;" care and
affection that she had been deprived of for so long during her
lonely relationship with her father (a hateful man!). While the
race relations story line was strong throughout this book, I enjoyed
reading of the simple interactions and relationships of the people
that could see beyond the skin color. I'd like to know how all
of the characters end up in another decade or so!
